Ending Of 1984!
Many novels have messages that the author wants the readers to catch. In the novel 1984, the author George Orwell tells what he thinks the future will be like. Orwell also leaves a message in this novel that I can relate to. After finishing this novel, I began to understand the book fully and the message that Orwell was trying to tell the readers at the end. His message is that nobody can go against who they are being controlled by no matter what they do. I can relate to this in many ways.
We are all being controlled and there are times when we want to rebel. My parents control me and I always want to rebel. Not too long ago I was invited to go to the mall for my friend’s birthday hangout and my parents would not let me go. I did everything I could to rebel against them once I knew I could not do anything to change their minds. I was like Winston because he tried to go against Big Brother, yet in the end he came to love Big Brother. That is basically how I am whenever I am not allowed to go somewhere because my parents control me. My parents are Big Brother to me and I am so tempted to rebel over and over again. Yet when I try to, I always go back to being under their control.
As one will see, George Orwell had a message for his readers in this novel. One cannot go against who is controlling them. In the end, we will always go back to being under some type of control.

War is Peace Reflection
In the novel 1984, the author George Orwell describes what he believes life in
the future will be like. The protagonist, Winston Smith, lives in London,
England which was now called Airstrip One, Oceania. Winston and his comrades
are being controlled by a Party called Big Brother (BB). Winston does not
remember a thing about the past because Big Brother is in charge of what they
can and cannot remember. In part two, chapter nine, I can relate to the slogan
“WAR IS PEACE” because when I get into an argument with someone, I feel at
peace with myself. In the novel it states that the reason why one of the
slogans is “WAR IS PEACE” is because Eurasia, Eastasia, and Oceania have been
at war with each other for forever now and basically that is considered
peaceful.
I have been in many arguments and
after them I feel at peace with myself to let it all out. Therefore, I can
relate to what the slogan “WAR IS PEACE” actually means. One day when I was
about 12 years old, I had a big disagreement with my mother. It was my first
argument ever and I did not really know what I was doing. Once I started
arguing with my mom, I felt like I could be at peace because I let everything
out. Even though it was only for a couple of minutes, I felt at peace. I can
relate to war being peace because fights, arguments, and disagreements have
been a part of my life and to me they are basically war.
In final analysis, I can relate to
the slogan “WAR IS PEACE”. I’ve had many arguments in my life and they have
brought me peace. In the novel, Eurasia, Eastasia, and Oceania being at war for
so long has made “WAR IS PEACE”. By these three being in war so much, it
created peace in a way. I feel as though I can relate to what’s going on in the
novel more. It is crazy how much I can relate to a slogan in a novel.

Heroes? Heroes.
1984
is a novel about what the author, George Orwell, contemplates about how the
future will be like. The protagonist, Winston Smith, is living in London,
England which was now called Airstrip One, Oceania. He lives in a dystopian
society being controlled by a Tyranny. He is in jail at the moment for being
caught with his lover, Julia. Winston was being tortured and what he says
during it has a literal meaning. He stated this: ‘Nothing in the world was so bad as physical pain. In the face of pain
there are no heroes, no heroes, he thought over and over as he writhed on the
floor, clutching uselessly at his disabled left arm.’ The real meaning of
this statement is clearer than what it seems.
Many people may not understand what
Winston was saying when he said that. He meant to say nothing is worse than
pain. There is no way to save someone from pain, so pain has no heroes. No
matter how much someone wishes they could be saved by pain, it is not going to
happen. That is why Winston was thinking about it over and over again.
This statement talks about pain
having no heroes. A hero is a person who
is admired for courage or noble qualities. An example of a hero is a
firefighter. Firefighters risk their own lives to save us. Their courageous qualities
are the key to them being heroes. They are everyday heroes and can lose their
lives at any moment saving us. They are truly the meaning of a hero.
In final analysis, nothing is worse
than pain. Pain cannot be stopped by someone other than oneself. Therefore there
is no way to save someone from pain, because pain has no heroes. Heroes are everywhere;
it just takes a risky event to happen for them to be brought out. In Winston’s
case, he could not be saved from pain. Pain cannot be stopped.

War Is Peace :P
So the other day i was on tumblr and i was bored and curious to find out what was on tumblr about George Orwell or 1984, so i had searched 'George Orwell' in the search box and i found some amazing picture but then this picture great came up, i was shocked to find such a nice picture that symbolized WAR IS PEACE and decided to put it on my blog:
I feel that this picture represents War is Peace well! I mean just look at it! do you not see how perfectly this picture represents that slogan?! haha people are so creative! i am jealous. I also read that this sign is on a t-shirt! I guess people really liked what George Orwell had to say in the novel 1984! I even want a shirt with this on it! I think it would be really cool (: I love seeing what people can come up with in order to symbolize things. There is so many things you could use to symbolize War is Peace. This one catches my eye. I think it is crazy how well the war plane fits into the open circle in order to make it look like a peace sign. i believe that whoever made this thought about how to make it for a long time. I do not think i would have ever been able to think of this picture to symbolize "War is Peace". Some people just have such big imaginations which lets them think of something so creative as this picture. i wish I was creative like the whoever made this symbol ): haha i cannot express my feelings anymore towards this photo. It is simply amazing and i love Tumblr for having such great photos that you could find. Blogs are just so amazing that they have pictures like this one!
All things that happen in our mind truly happen.
"All happenings are in the mind. Whatever happens in all minds, truly happens."
-George Orwell (1984, Part III, Chapter 4, Pg. 351)
So at the moment, I am reading chapter 4 in part III and i came across this quote on page 351. Winston is starting to think about why he rebelled in the first place. He is also thinking about how O'Brien said "...I could float off this floor like a soap bubble" which made Winston to believe, and i quote, "If he THINKS he floats off the floor, and if i simultaneously THINK I see him do it, then the thing happens." This is where the quote comes in to play. Winston has all of this going through his mind and now he believes that whatever happens in your mind, really happens. It is just crazy how such a simple quote could have someone thinking so much.
This quote makes me think about daydreaming and dreams. If they were actually happening because we think it, then they would apply to this quote and then the impossible would become possible... It is weird how when you actually start thinking of quotes and their meanings you begin to wonder what was going through someone's mind when they said the quote. I know i always wonder what is going on in a persons mind that made them say something. I feel as though every quote has a deeper meaning than what it says. It just requires more thinking and understanding than just knowing what the quote means from context clue or even by who said it. there's more to quotes than you think.
Need An Overview? Click That Link :D
So i have some trouble following the book and what has happened in the past chapters. So i decided to look for an analysis other than Sparknotes. I believe that this gave me a great overview of what happened and it has me understanding what i have been reading. If you are having trouble with understanding it, I suggest that you read this. (:
Analysis of 1984
An analysis of certain chapters in 1984 is helping me get through the book. i can understand the reason why George Orwell put certain things in the book. Also what he wants the readers to catch on. I think George Orwell was a very smart man. He knows how to symbolize things well in hi many literary works. 1984 is pretty similar to Animal farm by George Orwell because they both give great detail and Animal Farm may need to be analyzed if you do not follow it. Yet, I enjoyed reading Animal Farm and I enjoy reading 1984. (: Who does not love a little competitive reading? haha i love reading challenging things because they only better me in understanding literary works.

WAR IS PEACE Clarification
Some people live by quotes, i just think about their meanings.
"Great minds discuss ideas.
Average minds discuss events.
Small minds discuss people."-Eleanor Roosevelt
I chose this quote to put on my blog because I believe it is speaking the truth. This quote could have a part in the novel 1984 .

I don't want to break
In the novel 1984, the author George Orwell writes
about what he thinks life will be like in the future. In part three, Chapters
one to three, after being caught with Julia, Winston is being held in a prison
cell in the Ministry of Love along with Mr. Parsons and Ampleforth. O’Brien is
conducting Winston’s torture and says that it will cure him. After reading
these three chapters of part two, I began to wonder if Winston will break
because of the pain. I don’t remember a time when I hit my breaking point. This
then led me to contemplate what my breaking point would be.
I believe my breaking point would be
when someone constantly takes advantage of my kindness. I think I am nice to
everyone; even those whom I believe do not deserve my kindness. There are times
when people take advantage of me and ask me for favors because they know I will
not say no. I like being nice, but sometimes people just take advantage and it
makes me angry. I have not gotten to the point where I break and I hope to
never get to that point. I would really hate to be a mean person because I
actually enjoy being nice. Being nice has many positive benefits like feeling
good about myself and the joy of helping people. I would break if someone took
advantage of my kindness.
In final analysis, I am wondering
what will be Winston’s breaking point. I have not had my breaking point yet,
but when I do it will be bad. I can relate to Winston in this situation because
he is going through pain which could lead to his breaking point. I do not know
when I’ll break, but I hope it never happens.

Craaaazaaaaay
It's crazy how things can change when you least expect it.
Or when you figure out something you would have never guessed would happen.
Like in 1984, Mr. Charrington is not who i thought he'd be. I was kind of expecting it but at the same time i thought he was different.

Manipulation in 1984
In
the novel 1984, the author George
Orwell describes what he believes the future will be like. A man named Winston
Smith, along with other manipulated people, is living in a dystopian society
which is being controlled by a Tyrannized Party in Airstrip One, Oceania. I not
only relate to one character but to many of them. I can relate to the people
being manipulated in this government. The people of Airstrip One are being
manipulated into believing many different events in history, whether they are
true or not. This event is significant because it is the whole reason why the
government has so much control in this part of Oceania.
The easiest way to be manipulated is at a young age.
When I was younger, I was manipulated to believe that there was a Stork, Tooth
Fairy, Easter Bunny, Leprechauns, Unicorns, and Santa Claus and his elves. My parents
and teachers manipulated me to believe that they were real. One day, I was
misbehaving and my parents used Santa Claus and his stories as a reason for me
to behave like a good child or Santa Claus would not give me any presents on
Christmas for being naughty. Of
course, as a little girl, I believed everything I heard, therefore it was
easier for me to believe that what they were telling me was true. Especially
since they are my parents, I had no choice but to believe them since they were
older and responsible of me. Likewise,
in the novel 1984, the people have no
choice but to believe in the things they were being told by the government or
they were vaporized for thought crime, which was having unspoken beliefs or
doubts that oppose or question the ruling party. Since the Party was in control
of the people, the people couldn't rebel. For Example, I could not rebel
against my parents because they were older and thus in charge of me. Speaking
up is not an option for the people in Airstrip One, Oceania.
As one will see, the novel 1984 portrays manipulation. Therefore, I can relate to the people
in this novel that are being controlled by this Tyrannized Party. Everyone has
at least been manipulated once in their life. I feel as though I now have a
connection with characters in the novel which helps me to understand what
George Orwell is trying to depict in this novel. Manipulation is not always
used in a bad way, but in 1984, it is
being used in one of the worst way possible.

Ironic or what?
In the novel 1984, the author George Orwell describes
how he thinks life will be in the future. The protagonist, Winston Smith, is living in
London, England which was now called Airstrip One, Oceania. Winston and his
comrades are being controlled by a government called Big Brother (BB). Winston does
not remember a thing about the past because Big Brother is in charge of what
they can and cannot remember from the past, present, and future. Many themes
are being described in this novel so far such as ignorance, irony, hatred,
propaganda, dystopia, and sexual intercourse but irony is one theme that is being
observed more than the others. Irony is humor based on using words to suggest
the opposite of their literal meaning. There are many examples of irony in this
novel, but the ones that stood out the most were the three slogans of the Party
and Big Brother.
One example of Irony that stood out in the novel was the
three slogans of the party. The three slogans are War Is Peace, Freedom Is
Slavery, and Ignorance Is Strength. In the first line, War is Peace is ironic
because Oceania is frequently at war. In the second line, Freedom is Slavery is
ironic because it is stating that someone who is free is destined to fail and
that everyone has to rely on the Party in order to be prosperous. In the third
line, Ignorance is strength is ironic because the people's failure to recognize
all of the lies and contradictions that the Party feeds them strengthens the
Party's control.
Another example of irony that stood out in the novel was
Big Brother. BB is another name for the Party. It is ironic because it portrays
a child’s big brother which holds emotion, yet the Party is trying to get rid
of emotions in Oceania. Also BB watches over every move a person makes and keeps
them controlled by using fear, but a child’s big brother is the complete
opposite.
As one will see, this novel describes the future from the
author’s thoughts. The irony shown in the novel so far has to do with the
Party’s three slogans and Big Brother. Even though there are other examples of
irony in the novel, not many are being observed as much as others. This novel
includes irony much more than the other themes described in it.

I do not consider Tumblr an actual blogging site like this
one. So today is the first day of having a blog of my own. My name is Samantha
but everyone calls me Sammi. I am 15 years old and a sophomore but people say I
look younger than my age. I’m doing this blog for an English assignment. I
believe that this will be interesting. Blogging seems fun and I feel as though
this is a type of diary for the world to see. Even though I really dislike
sharing my feelings and talking about myself, I am willing to give this whole
“blog” thing a try, especially since it is for a grade. Ha-ha
Believe it or not, if it was not for my
English teacher I do not think I would actually be making a blog. It has never
come to my mind to make an actual blog about myself. There is always a first
for everything though. (: I will mostly
be talking about this novel we are currently reading called 1984 and it is by
George Orwell. It is very appealing and I hope you all think the same from my
blog posts! (:
