Many novels have messages that the author wants the readers to catch. In the novel 1984, the author George Orwell tells what he thinks the future will be like. Orwell also leaves a message in this novel that I can relate to. After finishing this novel, I began to understand the book fully and the message that Orwell was trying to tell the readers at the end. His message is that nobody can go against who they are being controlled by no matter what they do. I can relate to this in many ways.
We are all being controlled and there are times when we want to rebel. My parents control me and I always want to rebel. Not too long ago I was invited to go to the mall for my friend’s birthday hangout and my parents would not let me go. I did everything I could to rebel against them once I knew I could not do anything to change their minds. I was like Winston because he tried to go against Big Brother, yet in the end he came to love Big Brother. That is basically how I am whenever I am not allowed to go somewhere because my parents control me. My parents are Big Brother to me and I am so tempted to rebel over and over again. Yet when I try to, I always go back to being under their control.
As one will see, George Orwell had a message for his readers in this novel. One cannot go against who is controlling them. In the end, we will always go back to being under some type of control.
